Meeting Tenants Where They Are
Metro Housing meets families and individuals wherever they are on the housing continnum, including in their own communities.
We partner with local organizations to supply vital housing support services to residents who have low and moderate incomes. Through these collaborations with community organizations and owners, residents access multiple services convenient to where they live, in familiar locations that are physically and culturally accessible.

One of those partnerships is with Beacon Communities, managers of Georgetowne Homes, Camden Apartments, and Lenox Apartments. “Metro Housing|Boston has been a steadfast partner of Beacon Communities since before the pandemic, helping keep people housed during challenging times,” says Dara Kovel, Chief Executive Officer, Beacon Communities. “We are so grateful for the way they have stepped up during this crisis and increased their scale and scope to respond to the tremendous need.”

CONNECT, a program run by The Neighborhood Developers (TND) in Chelsea, offers the services of multiple agencies working to improve the financial mobility of families who have low incomes. “The pandemic hit TND's communities of Chelsea and Revere hard,” says Rafael Mares, Executive Director of TND. “Our close, pre-existing partnership with Metro Housing became the bedrock of our response. With their support, our team took on the responsibility to assist tenants in filling out rental assistance applications, Metro Housing staff trained our team, and jointly we developed systems for working together.”

Boston Medical Center (BMC) was Metro Housing’s first medical colocation partnership. “The COVID-19 pandemic taught us more than ever that a stable affordable home is foundation for health,” says Megan Sandel, MD, MPH, Co-Director of the GROW Clinic at Boston Medical Center. “Our partnership with Metro Housing kept hundreds of families from being evicted and is an essential partner for BMC.”
